Description
Dovamil Care is a post discharge formula (PDF) for infants who were born prematurely or with low birth weight. It is typically used during the first 9 months of Life to meet the nutritional needs of premature babies.
Dovamil Care has :
1- High CHO and Protein.
2- Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT).
3- DHA, ARA, Lutein, taurine and vitamin E.
4- Calcium and Vitamin D.
5- Low Sodium.
6- Minerals and vitamins according to FDA regulations.
CHO and protein:
Dovamil Care provides calories (22.3 Cal/OZ) and protein (2.1 g/100ml) which are higher than Dovamil Premium stage 1, that makes it perfect to feed Premature and low birth weight infants.
Because growing preterm infants have difficulty digesting & absorbing
long-chain fatty acids, medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) 25% are added to Dovamil Care which are an easily digested and well-absorbed fat source.
DHA, ARA, and Lutein:
They are an important nutritional ingredient present in breast milk that may support the brain and eyes developments.
Vitamin E:
An antioxidant agent has been proposed for preventing or limiting retinopathy of prematurity, intracranial hemorrhage, hemolytic anemia, and chronic lung disease.
Calcium and Vitamin D:
They are very essential micronutrients to support bone mineralization and growth in this age group.
Dovamil Care has the lowest Sodium level compared to other premature formulas to reduce renal solute load on the kidneys and avoid overwhelming body metabolism of premature baby.
The nucleotide levels in Dovamil Care are patterned after the average level of free nucleotides found in breast milk (24 mg/L). They are the building blocks of the RNA & DNA. In addition, they play an essential role in enhancing the baby’s natural immune system.
Dovamil Care meets U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements for vitamins and minerals as mandated by the U.S. Infant Formula Act and the associated Code of Federal Regulations 21 C.F.R. part 107.
